This is a great honor to even be nominated considering the small percentage of the special needs community that we represent. Hydranencephaly affects approximately one in 10,000 births across the globe. It is an even more rare occurance in the US with only 1 in 250,000 new parents faced with this rare neurological condition for their child.
I personally have been a part of several support groups for various reasons and the families that have networked through the GHF family support group are by far the most supportive, knowledgeable, sincere, and loving individuals I have ever not met. I have had the opportunity to meet a few families and the persona is not simply an online alternate personality... it's true to life.
